Most teenagers want to find a job. Not only is it a great way for them to earn some pocket money but a job is a great way for a teenager to get a taste of the adult world. Plus, I’m sure my teenager wanted an excuse to get out of the house once in a while. As a homeschooling family, we do what we can to get out of the house. We might be able to school at home but he can’t earn money at home.
And so when my child applied for a job at a local restaurant as a bus boy, we were thrilled to see that he was taking on more adult responsibilities. But I still worried about my teenager’s personal safety. Would he be able to get home safely? How could he navigate the adult world? Sometimes, like all teenagers, he just plain forgets to make a call.
